Aries is a duo formed by singer Simona Angioloni and musician Fabio Zuffanti, known in the music world to be the component of several bands and projects such as Finisterre, Maschera di cera and Höstsonaten, as well as his solo career. Simona Angioloni has experienced several years of live and studio activities experimenting with her voice.

The duo, aided in the studio and on stage by several guest musicans, has produced in 2005 his first album. A successful CD linking progressive instances and folk elements.

In 2010, Aries comes back with their second album, a concept album entitled ‘Double Reign ‘which draws part of its inspiration from the book of the writer Paola Capriolo ‘Il doppio regno"’ published in 1997. The story tells the adventures of a woman following an ill-specified natural event runs from his city to take refuge in a hotel scattered among the hills. Once inside she can no longer find the exit and thus she wonders among the rooms of the building from time to time dealing with strange characters and surreal situations that will help her to free themselves from the prison where she has voluntarily confines.

Musically speaking, the CD features only part of the folk influences of the first work focusing on dark and ethereal, electronic pop and hard rock athmospheres and, obviously, on all the great modern unconventional progressive rock.

In addition to Zuffanti (committed, as well as in the composition of the songs on bass, guitars and keyboards) and Angioloni (which also co-writes the songs) there is the usual array of guest musicians including a string quartet featuring the flute of Vittorio De Scalzi (New Trolls).



Aries è un duo formato dalla cantante Simona Angioloni e dal musicista Fabio Zuffanti, noto nell’ambiente musicale per essere il componente di svariate band e progetti come Finisterre, la Maschera Di Cera e Hostsonaten, oltre a condurre una carriera solista. Simona Angioloni ha alle spalle diversi anni di attività live e studio sull’uso della voce.

Il duo, coadiuvato in studio e dal vivo da diversi guest musicans, ha realizzato nel 2005 il suo primo album. Un disco di grande successo che univa istanze progressive ad elementi folk.

Nel 2010 Aries torna con il secondo album, un concept intitolato ‘Double Reign’ che trae in parte la sua ispirazione dal libro della scrittrice Paola Capriolo ‘Il doppio regno’ edito nel 1997. La storia narra le vicissitudini di una donna che in seguito ad un non ben precisato evento naturale fugge dalla sua città per rifugiarsi in un albergo disperso tra le colline. Una volta entrata non riesce più a ritrovare l’uscita e si perde così tra le stanze della strana costruzione trovandosi
volta per volta alle prese con strani personaggi e situazioni surreali che la porteranno a ritrovare se stessa e a liberarsi dalla prigione nella quale si è volontariamente reclusa.

A livello musicale il disco riprende solo in parte le atmosfere folkeggianti presenti nel primo lavoro concentrandosi su elementi dark ed eterei, elettronici e pop con venature hardrock. Su tutto la grande propensione per un progressive rock moderno e fuori dagli schemi classici.

Oltre a Zuffanti (impegnato, oltre che nella composizione dei brani, su basso, chitarre e tastiere) ed Angioloni (che in questo album esordisce anche come autrice) trovano spazio nel disco la consueta schiera di musicisti ospiti tra i quali si segnala un quartetto d’archi e la gradita presenza al flauto di Vittorio De Scalzi (New Trolls).
